The Good Shepherd Formation programs for children are designed to support and enable the community, and particularly its parents, in the mission of passing the Gospel message of Jesus, and our Catholic faith, to a new generation of believers. Through caring, activities, witness and instruction, young people are guided to a mature commitment to their baptismal gift of Catholic faith. The fundamental role of parents in the Christian formation of their children is emphasized at all levels.
Our program encompasses instruction for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Our comprehensive Youth Ministry serves the needs of children from 6th grade through high school.
Classes at Good Shepherd are as follows:
K-Grade 5: Saturday - 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Grades 1-5: Wednesday - 3:30-4:30 p.m.
As an alternative to classroom formation sessions parents have the opportunity to work with their children at home.
In cooperation with our neighbors at Guardian Angels and St. Joseph's we have developed a joint registration form that allows families to choose the program from any of our parishes that best suits your needs. See the attached registration form for details of programs at Guardian Angels and St. Joseph.
Additional information for children can be found at: Sacramental Preparations & Celebrations.
Our program depends on the generous stewardship of volunteers willing to share their faith with the young people of the parish. The average commitment from catechists/teachers and classroom aides is about two hours per week; one hour of preparation and one hour with the children.
Families who participate in our program should be supportive members of the parish and example of faith to their children.
