Christian Formation Programs

The Good Shepherd Formation programs for children are designed to support and enable the community, and particularly its parents, in the mission of passing the Gospel message of Jesus, and our Catholic faith, to a new generation of believers. Through caring, activities, witness and instruction, young people are guided to a mature commitment to their baptismal gift of Catholic faith. The fundamental role of parents in the Christian formation of their children is emphasized at all levels.

Our program encompasses instruction for children in kindergarten through fifth grade and sacramental preparation for the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist and Reconciliation.

Classes are as follows:
K-Grade 5: Saturday - 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Grades 1-5: Wednesday - 3:30-4:30 p.m.

As an alternative to classroom formation sessions parents have the opportunity to work with their children at home.

For more details see also: Sacramental Preparations & Celebrations.

Our program depends on the generous stewardship of volunteers willing to share their faith with the young people of the parish. The average commitment from catechists/teachers and classroom aides is about two hours per week; one hour of preparation and one hour with the children.

Families who participate in our program should be supportive members of the parish and example of faith to their children.
