This Team encourages parishioners to explore their talents and God-given gifts. The Volunteer Coordination Team also supports the Stewardship Ministry Team in their efforts to enable parishioners to gratefully give of themselves and their resources to God and the parish community. This group hosts an Appreciation event, usually a reception following all Masses two times a year. It is one way of acknowledging the generous sharing of the parishioners' time and talent in this church community. For more information on this Team contact the Parish Office 334-3518.
Ministries
Ushers
Ushers are people who exercise the ministry of hospitality in the greeting and seating of the congregation and in the collection of the monetary offerings at weekly and other liturgies. They direct and assist people, especially the physically challenged. They distribute programs and/or weekly bulletins and provide help for anyone with personal needs. Anyone over the age of 12 is invited and welcome to participate in this ministry. Please contact the Parish Office at 334-3518..
Sacristans
Sacristans are those people responsible for preparing the worship space for Mass and for cleaning up afterwards. Responsibilities include unlocking/locking the building, preparing the wine, bread and vessels at the beginning of Mass, recruiting Eucharistic Ministers to serve, washing the vessels at the end of Mass, and assisting with special needs for liturgies. Training is provided and a mentoring program exists. We especially welcome couples and families to participate in this ministry. Please contact the Parish Office at 334-3518.
Reconciliation Schedule
The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated in the Chapel area in the Parish Resource Center from 3:30 - 4:30 pm on the second through fifth Saturdays.
Liturgy Planning Group
Worship is vital to the life of the parish community. A new Liturgy Planning Group is being formed to work on coordinating all aspects of our Sunday Liturgies. They would work at blending homilies, Prayers of the Faithful, music, environment, and children’s participation into a flowing and consistent message. The Group would be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of seasonal and special liturgies. The first meeting of this group will be on Sept. 9 in the Library.
Lectors
Lectors are parish members (ages 12 and up) who proclaim the Word (Scripture) at Sunday liturgies and at other services throughout the year. Lectors are scheduled to read on a rotating basis with Mass preference taken into consideration. Workshops are offered periodically to train potential lectors. Contact the Parish Office at 334-3518.
Gather Our Children
Gather Our Children is a program for children ages 5 - 10 during the 9:00 am Mass. The children are dismissed before the Liturgy of the Word for their own word services and return in time to participate in the Liturgy of the Eucharist. It is a wonderful way for children to hear and understand God's word as it is presented in an age-appropriate format. Parents and other adults serve as presenters in the program and teens assist with the children. We are always in need of both presenters and aides. Materials and training are provided.
Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers are those who distribute Communion at Mass, to the homebound, and those in nursing homes and hospitals. Training is required for this ministry and is offered several times throughout the year. For more information and training dates, please contact the Parish Office (334-3518).
Environment Committee
This committee is responsible for environment of both the Chapel and Church, especially seasonal environment (E.g. Advent/Christmas/Epiphany and Lent/Easter/Pentecost). Members can participate in a variety of ways and help is always needed for the major seasons on a limited basis. For more information contact Kathleen Hegeman at 334-4015.
Children's Liturgy Committee
This committee plans and implements the monthly Children's liturgies. It is made up of parents and other adults who are interested in providing the children of the parish with a worship experience geared to their development level. For more information contact Madeline Merkl at 334-3023.
